# Command Centre: Delete a new hire

You can permanently delete a new hire's record in Command Centre before they're activated, whether for a data privacy request or a record created by mistake. This article covers the steps, what gets removed and kept, and why it can't be undone.

1. Open the new hire from the list and choose the **delete icon** at the top of their record.

2. Read the summary before you confirm.
3. **Deleted:** the documents they uploaded, the government ID numbers and contact details they entered, and the link and PIN from their invitation.
4. **Kept:** the audit entries — who did what, and when — plus aggregate counts for compliance reporting.
5. Tick the confirmation — that you have authority to delete the record, and that it can't be undone — then choose **Delete permanently**.

Use it either to carry out a data-privacy erasure request or to remove a record created in error — the confirmation covers both. It's also the only way to change the checklist once a new hire has started uploading: delete, then invite them again on the right one. They begin from scratch either way, so it's worth catching early.

**Deleting only works before activation.** Once someone is activated, they're an employee record in Sprout HR, so deletion from that point follows Sprout HR's own process instead.
