The Birthday Leave

One of the more important holidays in an individual's personal life happens on her birthday. On Sprout, we help make it possible for an employee to file for a leave in order for her to celebrate her birthday. 
 
Let's learn more about this particular leave type. 
 

Unlike most other leave types in Sprout, Birthday Leave credits are not automatically accrued. Instead, they are typically granted manually in advance, preferably at the beginning of the year. While there is an option to automate the accrual, the settings available for Birthday Leave are more limited compared to other leave types.

In most cases, employees are granted one Birthday Leave credit per year. However, the number of credits given ultimately depends on the company’s internal policy.

 
Let's take a look at each kind of setup: 
 
1. Automated
 
 
In this scenario, the birthday leave credit is set at 1, and is allowable for use within the birthday month of the employee concerned. Take note that employees will earn their Birthday Leave Credit at the beginning of their Birth Month only and they may use it based on the policy above. 
 
You can also choose to convert unused Birthday leaves into Vacation leaves:
 
 
Of course, don't forget to click the Save button once you're done. 
 
2. Manual
 
Here, you can only adjust upto how many days after an employee's birthday in which he can use the leave credit.
