Aligning Monetized Leave Adjustments with DOLE Guidelines on BIR Form 2316
At Sprout, we are committed to keeping your payroll processing accurate, seamless, and fully compliant with the latest government regulations.
We have updated how non-taxed monetized leave adjustments are reflected on BIR Form 2316 to precisely align with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) guidelines.
What Changed?Previously, non-taxed monetized leave adjustments were mapped to Line 37 (Other Non-Taxable Compensation) on BIR Form 2316.
According to DOLE and BIR rulings, non-taxed monetized leaves (such as the monetization of unused vacation leave credits up to 10 days) are legally classified as De Minimis benefits. Because of this classification, these adjustments have now been moved to Line 35 (De Minimis Benefits).

Why This Matters for Your Organization
This adjustment ensures that your employees’ taxability profiles are flawless and that your year-end reporting matches the exact definitions set by regulatory bodies.
💡 Reminders on De Minimis Leaves: > * Monetization of unused vacation leave (VL) credits for private employees is tax-exempt up to a maximum of 10 days per year.
- Monetization of sick leave (SL) credits is generally taxable unless it meets specific, restrictive conditions (e.g., total separation from service). Any taxable monetization will continue to be routed to the appropriate taxable income lines.
Nothing! Sprout Payroll handles the heavy lifting for you.
Our system backend has been automatically updated to reflect this change. The next time you generate your payroll workflows, reports, or BIR Form 2316 documents, the non-taxed monetized leave adjustments will seamlessly flow into Line 35.
