Adding a Goal With or Without Action Steps

To get started:

  • make sure you are logged in as an Appraiser or Manager.

  • Under Employee Documents, click Employee Goal Tools.

  • Next, select the employee's name and choose the “Default Appraisal.”  You may notice a dropdown asking you to select the Appraisal Process. We will talk more about default and concurrent appraisals in another video, but for now we’ll focus on the default appraisal.

  • Next click “Add Individual Goal” and then enter a goal name, description, and the goal weight.

If Business Goal features are enabled, you will also see an “Add Business Goal” button. Click either Add button depending on the type of goal you wish to enter.

  • Then, set a goal due date and click Save. And, just like that you’ve created a goal!

Keep in mind when performing the appraisal, the goal weights need to add up to 100 percent, so be sure you have weights set appropriately.

 Next, if you would like to apply milestones or action steps to accomplish a goal, you’ll want to add Action Steps:

  • Select the Goal for which you would like to add Action Steps
  • Click the plus sign to open up a New Action Step box.

  • Add the Action Step name, description and due date.

  • Click Save and make sure you click Save again at the bottom of the screen.  You can then add as many Action steps as you like.      


Keep in mind, when you perform the actual appraisal, you may need to score these Action Steps along with the associated goal.
