Step-by-Step Guide to Device Registration in Sprout HR Mobile
Your account, secured. The Device Registration feature helps keep your Sprout Mobile App secure by ensuring that only your device is linked to your account. This prevents unauthorized access, giving you confidence that your information and data stay safe.
Upon downloading and accessing the Sprout Mobile App, you will be prompted that your device has been successfully registered to your Sprout account.

Accessing Your Devices
In the Sprout Mobile App, tap the menu button at the top-left corner to open the sidebar menu. From there, you’ll see the Devices option.

Note that Device Registration is not enabled by default.
If you want this feature enabled, you may coordinate with your HR Admin so they can coordinate with your company’s assigned Customer Success Manager or our Support Team
Managing Your Devices
Upon selecting Devices in the sidebar menu, you’ll be able to see the registered devices. By default 2 devices can be registered for an account as the minimum but this can be requested to have more.

You can also have the capability of unlinking the registered devices from your account making it easier to manage devices.

Keep in mind that When a user deletes (unregisters) a device from his or her profile, the cooldown period starts. During this period, the device that was unregistered cannot be added by that employee or another employee in the same company. When it expires, that device then can be added again.
Troubleshooting Guide
1. “I cannot register my device because it is already linked to another user.”
There are two ways to resolve this:
Option A — If you know the previous owner of the device
- Ask the person who previously used the device to log in and unlink the device from their account.
- Wait for the cooldown period to expire.
- Once it expires, you may log in again using your own account.
Option B — If you do NOT know the previous owner
- Submit the Device Specific ID shown in the error message to your HR Admin.
- Your HR Admin can then forward this to Sprout Support for manual deletion of the device registration.
2. “I cannot register my device because it is currently on the cooldown period.”
You’ll need to wait for the cooldown period to expire before registering the device again.
- The default cooldown period is 24 hours, unless your company has configured it otherwise.
3. “I cannot register my device because I already reached the maximum device limit.”
By default, each Sprout Mobile user is allowed to register up to 2 devices (or 1 device depending on your company’s configuration) to help prevent buddy punching.
If you’ve reached the limit, please refer to the Admin FAQs below or coordinate with your HR Admin so they can request an adjustment.
