What is the "Salary Date From" recorded when adding new employees through the "Add Employee" tool and Bulk Upload?
For fully-synced and partially-synced accounts, when adding a new employee, the “Salary Date From” field may appear with a default value of 01/01/1900 depending on how the employee profile was created. This behavior varies between the Add Employee tool and Bulk Upload process.
Default Behavior in Add Employee Tool
When an employee is added using Administration Tools > Add Employee, the system automatically assigns a default Salary Date From value of 01/01/1900.
This occurs because:
- The system treats 01/01/1900 as the starting reference date for salary records
- There is currently no automatic timestamp stored for when salary details are added in the Salary tab
As a result, the Salary Date From is displayed as 01/01/1900 by default.
Behavior in Bulk Upload
When employees are added through Bulk Upload, the process:
- Does not pass through the Add Employee tool
- Therefore, the system does not automatically apply the 1900 default logic
Instead:
- The Salary Date From must be explicitly provided in the Bulk Template
- If not included, the system may leave it blank or require a manual update, depending on the configuration
Important System Limitation
At present:
- The Salary tab does not store the actual date when salary details were added
- This is why the system defaults to 01/01/1900 in some scenarios
Recommended Workaround
If you are adding or managing multiple employees, you may:
- Use the Bulk Add Template to include the correct Salary Date From
- Or update existing records manually via bulk editing
